One last trip to a warm climate in autumn is part of the standard programme for many people. But take care! As wonderful as the holiday season is, it also harbours risks. Especially with regard to security when making payments.
01.10.2024 –By taking these precautions, you can also protect yourself and your credit or debit card abroad:
- Adjust the purchase limit and the geographical settings (geoblocking) of your card.
- Find out in advance about the payment habits in the country you will visit so that you can take the right combination of credit card and cash with you.
- #Watch out when withdrawing money! It is best to use ATMs in bank buildings. Always ensure your PIN number is well hidden from prying eyes and check the fees for withdrawals.
- When making card payments abroad, always choose the local currency to avoid high exchange rates.
- Check all transactions on your return and report any suspicious movements to your bank immediately.
