Phishing e-mails in the name of SIX Group

Debit card holders are once again the target of a widespread fraud scam. Since the end of November 2022, amazingly genuine-looking phishing emails have been circulating in the name of SIX Group. The fraudsters want to use the attack to obtain the victims' login and card details in order to steal their money.

In the email messages, the potential victims are led to believe that their debit card has been blocked for security reasons. To reactivate the card, cardholders are asked to follow the link "Check now". However, the link does not lead to a SIX Group website, but to a fake website. The e-mail address, password and debit card data should be entered there. Subsequently, the fraudsters ask their victims to also send them the security code they received via SMS. With this, the fraudsters use the two-factor authentication and are freely able to steal the victims' money.
