Fake e-mails are currently circulating ostensibly from health insurance companies supposedly promising a refund.
28.10.2025 –This is how the scam works:
- The criminals lure you into visiting a fake website where you have to fill in a supposed "refund form" and enter your card details.
- If the scam is successful, the credit or debit card is debited immediately.
- In order to bypass two-factor authentication, the fraudsters then try to intercept the security code from the financial institution sent by text message.
You can protect yourself like this:
- Always be critical of links
- Do not pass on sensitive data and security codes
- If data has been passed on: Block the card immediately and report it to the police
