The run-up to Christmas is the peak season for online shopping. But while you're looking for the best offers, fraudsters are after your data.
09.12.2025 –Toys, technology, clothes or last-minute gifts - almost everything is easily ordered online. This also attracts criminals, for example with fake online shops that lure customers with incredibly low prices. Or with phishing emails that look as though they come from parcel services or well-known online retailers. Their aim: to steal your credit or debit card details.
The following tips will help you shop safely at Christmas:
- Never click on links and attachments from people you don’t know
- Type the URL of the company manually into your browser
- Always carefully check the sender
- If the company has a .ch domain, also check its registered office on the website or on Google Maps
- Verify entries on rating platforms
- Never pay in advance
