From 1 February, a valid motorway vignette will be required again - but when buying online, it's a case of #watchout!
20.01.2026 –If you search for the term "motorway vignette” on Google or other search engines, the first things you will usually see are adverts rather than normal search results. These are often fake sites that have only one goal: your debit and credit card details!
This is how you can protect yourself:
- Purchase your e-vignette only from the official portal of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security: www.e-vignette.ch
- Type the URL yourself in the browser window (don’t use a link).
- Never disclose sensitive data such as PINs, SMS codes or passwords.
- If you receive an authentication request during the payment process, check exactly what you are authorising. The message must be linked to the intended payment, e.g. a reference to e-vignette.ch. If this is not the case, terminate the payment process.
- If you have nevertheless already entered your data on a fake site, block your card immediately and inform your financial institution.
