The latest statistics from the Federal Office for Cybersecurity (BACS) show that cyber threats are continuing to increase. By October 2024, a cyber incident was reported every 8.5 minutes. This is almost double the figure for the same period last year.
10.12.2024 –Reports of phishing attacks have also increased by around 2,800 cases compared to the previous year. The most common scams are false notifications of parcel deliveries and alleged refunds in the name of well-known companies such as SBB, Migros or EasyPark. In addition, a new approach called "chain phishing" is spreading. Once an e-mail account has been hacked, a phishing e-mail is immediately sent to the entire address book.
So it’s becoming even more important to #watchout! You can protect yourself against phishing with these measures:
- Distrust messages from unknown senders.
- Never click on links and never open attachments.
- Always check the sender’s e-mail address and URL.
- Log in only via official websites (not via links).
- Keep your web browser and operating system up-to-date.
- Never disclose login and card data.
- Use strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
- Activate an alert service to receive a message when payments are made.
- Check your transactions and payments.
