12.05.2026 –99% of the Swiss population have at least one debit or credit card and use them regularly – especially when travelling abroad.
To keep your holidays stress-free, it’s worth adopting a conscious approach:
- Use geoblocking and only activate your travel destination for the duration of your holidays
- Always pay in the local currency to avoid unfavourable exchange rates and additional fees
- Set card limits as low as possible and as high as necessary.
- Check account statements regularly and block cards immediately in the event of unusual transactions
- Keep cards safe, do not let them out of your hand when paying and always cover the PIN code
- Avoid unsecured WLAN connections and use VPN networks whenever possible.
This leaves more time to enjoy yourself.
