In the weeks before Christmas many charitable organisations ask for donations. But scammers also try to get your money with fake appeals for donations.

- The best way to donate is directly via the organisation's website. Reputable organisations have transparent contact and account details on their website.
- Enter the URL of the organisation manually into your browser.
- Check the organisation's website: Spelling mistakes, strange domains or no “Legal Notices” section are warning signs.
- Be careful with links in social media or links sent via WhatsApp: Do not click on links from strangers and never enter your personal details and/or debit and credit card information.
