E-mails purporting to be sent by the Swiss National Tax Authorities still keep circulating.
08.03.2024 –The recipients are informed that the tax authorities have made some mistake and that a tax refund will therefore be issued. All you have to do is click on the link in the message and fill in the form. Personal details and card information including the CVV number are required. The outstanding amount would then be credited directly to the card account.
Anyone who reads the message with due care will quickly recognise it as a phishing message. The tax authorities would never contact you by e-mail on such a matter.
Always remember the following:
- Be suspicious if an authority, bank or card issuer sends you an unsolicited e-mail.
- Always check the sender carefully.
- Never open a link in such emails.
- When you are directed to a website, check the URL. Is it correct?
- Except when you are making a payment, never disclose personal information and card details.
